Blanco chosen to the MLS All Star game

México's Cuauhtémoc Blanco has been chosen to be a part of the lineup in the upcoming All-Star in Major League Soccer.
Blanco, a midfielder and whose a pilar of El Tri, the Mexican national team, has been on the roster with Chicago Fire received the second-highest of the votes behind Englishman David Beckham of the Los Ángeles Galaxy.
Blanco, whose scored 34 goals for El Tri, broke into the MLS after numerous years of playing in the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol with the Águilas (Eagles) of América. In 1999 Blanco set a tournament record after scoring nine goals in the Confederations Cup for México.
Beckham earned fans' votes of 38.9 from fans and 49.6 from the players; 82.2 from the media, while Blanco registered 25.9 (fans), 40.1 (players) and 74.4 from the media.
MLS deputy commissioner Iván Gazidis announced the roster for July 24th to be played in Toronto, Canadá is set against West Ham United of the English Premier League.
SuperLiga continues
Guadalajara's Chivas beat D.C. United 2-1, then Pachuca defeated Chivas USA during play of the 2008 SuperLiga tournament, which pits Mexican Soccer League teams against counterparts in Major League Soccer.
Gabriel Caballero found the back of the net for Pachuca near the final minutes of the first half against Chivas USA for a 2-1 Group B victory last Sunday in Carson, California.

Germán Fernández claims another title
RIVERBANK -- Riverbank's German Fernández was chosen the Gatorade National Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
"It's an honor to receive this award," Fernández said. "This is amazing."
Fernández received the trophy in a ceremony at the Antigua Event Center in Riverbank, kissed it and held it aloft as the crowd that filled the room gave him a standing ovation.
Fernández, a recent Riverbank High graduate, broke three national records- the 3,000 meters, 3,200 meters and two-mile - this season. He'll run for Oklahoma State University next year.
